I guess everyone will be checkin out their updates abt their friends in facebook nd orkut rite..? It was the month of may when i saw some updates *!@#$,B.TEch , Yipee iam also a B.Tech.. Even i too had it until recently.. These days the B.Tech degree has become so easy to get it.. Jus stay in a college for 4 yrs nd there u r... Mostly u ll be getting ur btech degree without any problem.. This is the most common thing these days.. atleast in the south for sure... The craaze for other degrees is all out.. When i was a kid of some 9-10 yrs my mom used to tell me if u score above 85 in 10th Std u take engineering... 65-85 commerce below 65 arts.. And i want u to be an engineer.. Engineers were respected a lot.. People at my place respect my father because he is an engineer.. Once upon a time a “dream” profession which only a few “Elite” achieved now has become a most achievable. Choose any field, an engineer would certainly be there! Be it MBA Colleges, Administration, BPOs, Technical Companies , Consultancies, Tax Auditing companies, Banks, Stocks, etc. You name it we are therein it...! .
Let me tell u wat most of our fraternity ppl are doin...
Ask anyone in a good position what to do after Engineering and their immediate reply would be "Do an MBA dude" Well that is wat I, one among the fraternity is preparing for( Seriously Am I.???)... I think 95% of the ppl preparing for CAT is from this fraternity. And also 70% of the ppl who are going to be "The Engineers" are preparing for CAT. I think institutes lyk CAT, IMS, CL,etc are surviving ly bcoz of the fraternity... The funny part is Many of the people who run these “educational centres” are also Engineers who somehow managed to do MBA from IIMs or thereof. There is no escaping from “us”, the Fraternity.
We Engineers have breached every boundary and haven’t left any stone untouched! MS ("from Abroad") is again the thing these days among the fraternity. MS is Masters of Science, and not Masters of Engineering! We’ve exploited the 16yrs of Formal education rule applicable to Universities abroad. This rule doesn’t allow B.Sc people to do MS straightaway after Graduating, as BSc is for 3yrs, so in all 12+3=15! However, this rule is changing somewhat but holds true in 8/10cases! MS is not a bad option, in fact a very good one! But its a very costly one.. Of course one might argue when getting an MBA from IIM is costing u 15 Lakhs and MS is gonna cost u somewhere around 20-25 lakhs whats the point...? But the thing is ROI on MS doesnt look very bright... but wher as frm an IIM its way too bright... After all at the end of the day what everyone wants is to earn money.. But a senior of mine told me recently the situation has improved a lot and things are looking very good over there for students especially the CS guys.. but still India is a very hard place to leave... :) (lots of love for my motherland)
But the majority of the fraternity after finishing their "B.Tech degree" is getting into jobs and that too software jobs.. There was a tym wen software jobs used to be very prestigious.... But nw with TCS alone offering 30,000 jobs a year surely the no of fraternity ppl getting into the software jobs must be something around 3,00,000... which makes it around 30-40% of the fraternity ppl... Surely these jobs are good.. and they pay u a notch higher than other core ppl... It doesnt matter which group u belong to u can be into the computers field.. In IITs most of the CS guys consider 12-13 lacs as a very good offer but where as other group ppl 8-9 lacs as a good offer... And in other "prestigious institutions" like PEC software gives them 23-28 at a start and the core companies 15-18 ( nt lacs thousands a month)... So obviuosly software wallas salary is higher...
Most people getting through the toughest IAS are again from the fraternity! Many people working in BPOs (Call Centres) are from the fraternity too.
What is shocking to see is that is that even now Banks are now hiring from the fraternity! The fraternity over there is hidden from the public’s eye. They are given a tag of a “Probationary Officer” and a tag of "Cashier". While this is meant for any Graduate the inner meaning commerce graduates, but we too are “Graduates”.Guess there are no jobs left out.. We pounce over every piece of meat! Even though we know nothing about this meat. Whether it is Chicken’s or Cow’s or Pig’s :)! Now we are Bankers too!
As the fraternity is so widespread, Recession was ought to hit us the most! I’m sure someone from the fraternity must’ve been working with Lehmann Brothers or watever bullshit bank , who somehow managed to cause their downfall and in turn World Economic Meltdown! After all we are the creators of our own destiny... :)
The fraternity practices “Leave no stone untouched!” So we have people from the fraternity everywhere...
People do ask me most of the times fraternity wallas nd also the non fraternity wallas, which branch do u belong to.. I do tell them then again i think does it really matter.. watever the case most of them will be joining software nd the other jobs which doesnt need any sort of branch dependency... But still the young generation these days who are going to be one among the fraternity in a few days prefer this branch called "Electronics nd Communication engineering". I still dnt knw why this is the most sought after branch... Most of them tell Take ECE nd u ll do wonders... I dnt understand what wonders the 2 lakh odd ppl who graduate frm ECE every year do... No offense ECE ppl ...Even my princi told on Aug 9 2006,ECE ppl r the cream of the college...
But still u knw the fraternity can be very logical nd everythin.. Probably its because its with what we have to study.. Most of the things which we study has to do with formulas nd all so somehow whatever u study gets into ur mind nd gets into ur vocabulary.... Believe it.. Really it happens.. I ll tell u one example.. When ur friend asks u (nt from the fraternity)" What r the chances for India win this match...?" U say" I dnt knw.. With 4 out of 11 main players nt playin, the probability is way too low man"
SO wat i feel is these days the engineers though are more intelligent and more creative they do lack something.. They run behind success nd nt excellence.. So as Baba Ranchod das Chanchad says Run behind Excellence and Success will be automatically urs...
good one dude....

ReplyDeleteneway nice one..
ReplyDeletebut u forgot still there are ppl like me who always go behind excellence... :P
i feel u are obsessed with 3 idiots.. joining banks after doing engineering is not a sin.. many ppl find commerce more interesting than engineering after joining
@ratan hope this is better..
ReplyDeleteno man its not gettin obsessed with 3 idiots.. The film is abt engineering so i felt some quote of that film needs a mention in "my blog" thats it..
and buddy... a little to long.. try keepin it shorter.
